Update on AFA'08

Taken directly from the AFA website:
"Ichirou Mizuki, Japan’s “King of Anime Songs”, has confirmed that he will be attending Anime Festival Asia 2008 (AFA08) and will perform live on stage on Saturday, 22 November 2008 as part of the “Anime Live” zone. Visitors to AFA08 will be able to catch the one of the most famous Japanese performer who has a 40-year career as a singer and who will be performing for the first time ever in Singapore.

Known fondly by the public and anime fans as “Aniki” (meaning big brother), Mizuki-san started his career in 1968, and sang his first anime song for the theme of “Genshi Shonen Ryu”in 1971. Since then, he has performed over 1200 songs including songs for “Mazinger Z” “Captain Harlock” and Tokusatsu (meaning live-action superhero TV) theme songs, such as “Masked Rider” and has gained international recognition as Japan’s most prominent Anime performer in his 40 year career as a singer for Anime songs. He has won countless awards and accolades for his colorful career.

In 1999, Mizuki-san held a “1000 songs concert”, one of the most amazing events in the history of music where he sang 1000 continuously for 24 hours. His popularity is not limited to Japan, having performed internationally at anime events and on various TV shows around the world. Mizuki-san proved to be also extremely trendy as a performer where he worked with French DJ Dimitri From Paris, to release “BOKURA NO MAZINGER Z” (Black Version, 2003)’, and ‘Disney’s “EV’RYBODY WANTS TO BE A CAT” (2005)."

Although I have never heard of Ichirou Mizuki, his achievement tells me that this is one guy who deserves an applause. 1000 songs continuously for 24 hours? Wow, must have a nice throat. VIP tickets are to be announced soon, so be sure to keep yourself update at the official AFA website.
